“question mark” is a beautiful, thought-provoking poem by poet, writer, and artist Writisha Bezboruah (@wribezboruah). Two of her poems have been published by the Mockingbird Poetry Society, and she published a book in middle school (with a sequel on the way!).

question mark

who is she

she can't be found

just tissues and organs and blood and bones

walks past you like a breeze

she's a sliver of a thought

a name no one bothers to remember

she's got a head I guess

but what's inside it

other worlds, other places, other people

she exists in a state of other

because she is just like the others

except empty inside

but there's a question in her mind:

who am I, who am I

who is she

a picture of a soul that keeps asking

drifts past you, no one sees

a curve and a dot, that's her heart

because she doesn't understand

who she is

it's hard to be confident when you could be

wrong

am I me or am I just pretending

to be more than a question mark

am I me or am I that girl that nobody knows

or is that me

am I me or am I the one who never knows

what if she will keep on wondering,

who am I, who am I

who is she?
